“Making the best better, ” this program for socializing well-mannered dogs which can then take part in a blind person’s life also provides referral information to the blind regarding acquiring a guide dog. The primary purpose of this program is to secure volunteers in southwest Colorado to commit one year to raising a puppy which can then be trained as a guide dog. Screening and training of volunteers is provided. There is no cost to the blind for assistance in securing a guide dog. Volunteers must be able to afford the expense of raising a puppy for one year.
