Lunch & Learn – Childcare Tax Credit

Friday, October 19th, MECC and Team UP are happy to be hosting a lunch and learn with the Executive Director of EPIC (Executives Partnering to Invest in Children) about the Colorado Childcare Tax Credit (CCTC). We’ll talk about how you can support local childcare programs with an income tax credit — a great deal for individuals, businesses and providers.

Teacher Classroom Management 2018

MECC is once again offering a free series of classes from the Teacher Classroom Management Training Series. This is a series of five classes and attendance is required for all five days.

Teacher Classroom Management Training Series Class Schedule:

  • September 7th
  • November 2nd
  • December 7th
  • February 15th
  • April 12th

Classes are free of charge, coaching is included and lunch is provided.

This curriculum is from the Incredible Years and is a great series of classes for both new teachers and seasoned teachers alike. We all learn so much from each other!

Save the Date: CAEYC Fall Conference Sept 22, 2018

The annual COAEYC Conference is just around the corner!

The upcoming Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children conference will be held on on September 22nd, 2018, in Durango, CO at Fort Lewis College.

If you are needing continuing education hours, this is a great way to get them, have fun and network with other Early Childhood Professionals.

School Supplies Needed

MECC Backpack Drive 2018

It’s in the Bag Backpack Drive is revving up for a new season. The Montelores Early Childhood, Cortez Retail Enhancement Assoc., Marketing and Events of the City of Cortez, and the Cortez Public Library are partnering to bring kids a backpack of school supplies, books and socks. We would also like to offer back-to-school haircuts.

We are in need of monetary donations, socks, and hair stylists who like to donate their time for a good cause. We will be posting drop off locations and wish lists soon!

The backpack giveaway is slated for Thursday, August 16, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the 3rd Thursday Market in Montezuma Park on the corner of Montezuma and Market streets.

Discover Health / Descubre la Salud is a FREE interactive bilingual exhibition that makes learning about health science topics fun for all ages, April 7-July 2  at Cortez Public Library. This series of events includes story times, nutritional health workshops, health screenings, and more.
