Cute little girl reading book with motherThe Cortez Public Library has received a $15,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Colorado State Library to establish a prototype program that encourages parents to read to their children.  The program targets low-income parents of children from the ages of 0 to 48 months and is one of eight sites chosen across the state.

The Cortez Public Library is partnering with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, the Pinon Project and Butler Headstart to deliver this program to the community.  Friends of the Cortez Public Library are providing $1,500 in matching funds for this grant.  The Cortez Public Library staff is very excited to be part of this great endeavor.
