2014 SW District CAEYC Conference

The 4th Annual Southwest District CAEYC Conference will be held on Saturday, November 1 at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Pam Schiller will be the keynote, and there will be breakout sessions on topics of interest to all early childhood professionals.

Registration and payment must be received by October 17, 2014.

Seating is limited, and there will be no registration at the door. Prices include lunch and 7.5 training hours.

Registration with CAEYC or NAEYC membership: $45

Regular registration price: $65

Registration and CAEYC membership: $95

Make payable to SW District CAEYC.

**Scholarships available for a select few willing to volunteer throughout the conference. If interested please send an email with a short essay explaining why you feel you would be a good candidate for a scholarship to Heather Hentz. Limited scholarships available.

Teacher Classroom Management Training

Montelores Early Childhood Council Presents:

a free series of classes from the Creator of the Incredible Years – facilitated by Vangi McCoy and Lindsay Sherman!

Classes are from 9am-4pm on the following dates:

  • September 5th – Building Positive Relationships & Preventing Behavior Problems
  • October 10th – Importance of Teacher Attention, Coaching, Praise
  • January 9th – Decreasing Inappropriate Behavior
  • February 20th – Emotional Regulation, Social Skills and Problem Solving

The Teacher Classroom Management Training Series will be held at the Johnson Building, at 925 S. Broadway, Room 110 in Cortez.

Josh Blue Special Olympics Fundraiser

The Montelores Early Childhood Council and FLTI have rallied to create a FREE Family Day in the Park before the Josh Blue Special Olympics Fundraiser on August 30th, 2014.

Parque de Vida in Cortez, Colorado

All Early Childhood Centers and Providers are encouraged to join us, and bring information and activities to the park!

MECC and FLTI will have a table set up and will coordinate activities, such as water balloon toss, relay races and face painting.

Special Olympics are providing vendors for food and drinks.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you can join us for this fantastic day!

The schedule for August 30th is as follows:
Set up for booths and activities at 12:00pm.
Events start at 1:00pm, goes through 3:00pm.
Wind down and pack up from 3:00 – 4:00pm, at which point activities take on an adult vibe.
Ticket holders only at 5:00 and the band starts, Josh Blue starts at 6:00.

Little People Seasonal Storytime

The Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St, will continue with Little People Seasonal Storytime starting on Tuesday, August 5th at 10:30am at MPL. The program, which takes place each Tuesday, follows the Mancos Re6 schedule and runs through May. Children ages 2-6 will be taught songs, verses, and stories with the changing of the seasons emphasized. Strengthening Families Program at The Pinon Project

Build a more positive relationship with your 12—17 year old teen.

Help your teen to grow and learn.

Support your teen’s success at home and at school.

Families will learn how to:

– Build positive communication and problem solving skills
– How to support your teens in home and social situations.
– Ways to share knowledge, re-sources and experience with other families.

Starting: Monday, July 28th. Duration: 12 weeks Time: 5:30-8:00pm
Where: The Piñon Project Annex, 300 N. Elm St., Cortez
Family dinner and child care for children under 12 provided free of charge.
