September’s Family Night at Beech Street Preschool gave everyone a chance to practice getting ready for kindergarten. It was a huge success with about 100 people attending. A big shout out to the Beech Street staff for hosting this, and, as always, to the awesome MECC staff who planned and executed it.

We had a fun family night focused on literacy. We read a book called Travels of a Dime, illustrated by MECC’s Tyra Hughes and written by her grandmother! Kids had fun practicing their matching and rhyming skills on a scavenger hunt. They got to take home a bag of story rocks, and got to “buy” items at the MECC’s “dime store” with fake coins. A great time was had by all. Special thanks to MECC’s Family Night team for creatively organizing this event, and thanks to all who attended!

“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened,” say all the families and friends who attended MECC’s annual Dr. Seuss Family Night at Beech Street Preschool in March, 2014! Kids made Cat in the Hat hats and other Dr. Seuss themed items, played games, ate yummy food, and had their pictures taken as Thing 1 and Thing 2. A good time was had by all!

The MECC February Family night was a fun-filled evening for little chefs and their families. They learned about making quick, healthy meals, enjoyed eating their yummy masterpieces, and learned about oral health. We practiced brushing teeth. Parents learned about protecting their little chefs from second-hand smoke. A great time was had by all.
