Raising of America – Free Signature Episode Screening

The Raising of America is a 2015 documentary series that chronicles the state of early childhood and the role it plays in the future of our nation.

The Montelores Early Childhood Council (MECC) is planning a free screening of the Signature Episode on September 23rd at 6:30 pm in the Sunflower Theater adjoining KSJD on Market and Main in downtown Cortez.

Following this 60 minute film we would like to host a short focus group discussion to share new perspective on the importance of early childhood education in our community. Light snacks will be served. If you have questions about the event please contact Geof at MECC at 970-564-3211.

5th Annual SW CAEYC Conference

The 5th Annual SW District CAEYC Conference will be held in Durango, Colorado at Fort Lewis College on Saturday, September 26th. Registrations along with payment must be received by Friday, September 18th in order to reserve your seat at the conference.

Scholarships may be available for a select few willing to volunteer throughout the conference. If interested, please send an email to Heather Hentz at swcaeyc@gmail.com.

Incredible Years Parenting Class

Incredible Years post card-1Cortez Integrated Health System announces the start date for its next Incredible Years Parenting Class.

Join them beginning June 10th.

This group is appropriate for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-10. It is a 12-weeks course and focuses on increasing parent’s use of positive discipline strategies. It is a fun, supportive environment that builds on parent’s existing strengths.
