The central legal authority in the state district, this court handles criminal cases, juvenile matters, probate estates, civil claims over $15,000, mental health cases, divorces, adoptions and other matters for Montezuma and Dolores counties. In the case of divorce, individuals can purchase needed forms from office supply companies, some of which have prepared packets explaining how to complete and file them with the court. Individuals may also purchase the divorce packet from the District Court or access forms online. Filing fees vary with actions.
