MECC’s Fifth Annual Early Childhood Appreciation Dinner

The Montelores Early Childhood Council’s fifth annual EC Appreciation Dinner was held on May 28, 2014, at the Elks Lodge. The 75 attendees had a ball, as you can see from the pictures. From table skits, to happy socializing, to many special awards, this was a chance for early childhood professionals to be honored and recognized for all the wonderful work they do for children and families in our communities.

Elaine Medina, who has taught for 10 years at Teddy Bear Preschool, was awarded “Master Gardener” Teacher of the Year, nominated by parents and colleagues alike for her outstanding work in early childhood.

Mark McLaughlin was awarded MECC Community Member of the Year, also nominated by many community members for his volunteer work to help families and children in our communities, cooking graduation dinner for Incredible Years Parenting Class graduates, volunteering at Treehouse ELC, and implementing his Family Leadership Training Institute 2013 community project designed to bring back the family dinner hour.

Thanks to everyone who attended, as well as the amazing MECC staff members whose hard work helped make this event a huge success. They also received awards:

  • Sahara: the unicorn award for always believing and her knack of finding creative ideas;
  • Lindsay: the owl award for being willing to share her wisdom with the rest of us;
