High quality professional development opportunities (EQIT, Pyramid Model training, Incredible Years coaching, specific training events and workshops) are available, although not accessed by many.
Family Support and Parent Education:
MECC-sponsored Family Leadership Training Institute has yielded many parent leaders.
The Pinon Project Family Resource Center, a MECC partner, offers Parents as Teachers, parent education through Incredible Years, early literacy classes, financial literacy classes, and courses for fathers.
MECC offers frequent Family Nights on a variety of topics.
Reach Out and Read was a MECC-sponsored project.
The County Health Department, a MECC partner, offers Nurturing Parent classes.
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health:
MECC’s Pyramid Model Partnership LeadershipTeam provides trainings and supports for ECE teachers to deal effectively with challenging behaviors.
In collaboration with other partners, MECC funded a part-time MH consultant to help ECE providers understand and deal with challenging behaviors.
Health:
In collaboration with the Montezuma County Health Department MECC implements Cavity Free at Three as part of Bright Beginnings. Nurse-Family Partnership is also offered through the MC Health Department.
